A little bit about Brian Folus and Folus Music

Mr. Brian Folus has been repairing restoring instruments for musicians in Harford County Maryland since 2001. He repairs and restores instruments for members of the Susquehanna Synohony Orchestra and for Harford County’s Band Together Inc. a local volunteer non-profit organization that provides instruments to young students in need. In addition to restoring instruments Mr. Folus is the Music Director of the Harford Youth Orchestra ( www.harfordyouthorchestra.org

In 2006 Mr. Folus expanded his shop to restore and repair instrument for the general public. Mr. Folus is an authorized dealer of  Samuel Shen Instruments and Bobelock cases and other string accessories. Mr. Folus studied string instrument repair with Mr. Joseph Farrell of Baltimore , Maryland.

 Mr. Folus has also been an adjunct faculty member of Harford Community College since 1986, teaching String Bass lessons and as a lecturer – “Art of Listening 1 & 2. Mr. Folus is also Principal Bassist for The Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra, has also been a frequent guest conductor of the SSO. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from Towson University and began teaching in Harford County, Maryland in 1985. He earned a Master of Music Degree from West Chester University, PA. in 1993. Mr. Folus has also completed an additional 30 graduate credits at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Mr. Folus has studied conducting with Dr. Leigh Martinet, Mr. Ray Moore, and Maestro Leonid Grin. Mr. Folus is currently teaching instrumental music at Red Pump Elementary School in Harford County, Maryland. In addition to teaching  Mr. Folus has several arrangements for the Harford String Orchestra include; “ Chorale for Strings” and an original composition “Summer Breezes”. Mr. Folus’ arrangement of “Symphony No. 1″ by William Boyce which has been published by Highland-Etling Publishers- the String Orchestra division of Alfred Publishing. Mr. Folus has also prepared an arrangement of Hanukah music for the Susquehanna symphony Orchestra – “A Hanukah Celebration”, this work has been performed three times by the SSO.
